About Salim Ratnani

Muhammad Salim Ratnani, MD, completed his surgery training at Canada’s McGill University in 1993 and has over two decades of experience in his field. Currently the president and owner of Professional Cardiothoracic Surgery in Charleston, West Virginia, Dr. Salim Ratnani specializes in high-risk, complex coronary and aortic cases. He achieved the lowest post-op sternal infection rate in the US at 0.14 percent and a mortality rate of 2.67 percent in the course of over 1,800 coronary bypass procedures.

Dr. Ratnani excelled throughout his education, receiving certificates of merit in medical school and a scholarship from the Aga Khan foundation to undergo specialty training in general surgery at McGill. He continued his training there in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery under another scholarship and was granted the title of Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. With additional training at the Cleveland Clinic, he became a board-certified surgeon in the US.

As the father of an autistic son, Dr. Muhammad Salim Ratnani is interested in autism research and possible causes of autism. He follows the development of new and emerging therapies.
